Our goal is to reduce food miles and help people in Sussex find and enjoy the best food available on their doorstep. With an increasing desire for greater awareness of the origins and traceability of the products that are brought, we can guarantee that our animals have had a wonderful life; born and reared on the farm in a traditional manner with room to roam and forage naturally but with a modern twist to ensure they have everything they need to exist happily. A small local abattoir is used to reduce travel time and stress to the animals.
Our farm ethos is based on sustainability and protecting the environment therefore we breed and rear traditional and local breeds ensuring their longevity and take great consideration for the land in our care. We run a herd of Sussex cattle, a flock of Southdown, Jacob & Suffolk sheep and breed Gloucester Old Spot and Oxford Sandy & Black pigs; these slower growing traditional breeds produce fine quality meat with a flavour of the old days, along with 5500 free range laying hens and table chicken. A large range of fresh and frozen meat is always available.
Locally sourced produce such as artisan bread and milk and everyday essential items can be found in the shop.
